Lakmé Fashion Week: Day 4

Lakmé Fashion Week: Day 4

After the Indian Textile Day celebrations at Lakmé Fashion Week, we welcome the fierceness and excitement of Day 4! Accessory designers along with some of our most creative designers showcased their collections today.

Starting the second last day of Lakmé Fashion week was our favourite accessory designers Nitya Arora, Rohan Arora, Tanya Sharma and Sasha & Kaabia Grewal. Sisters Sasha and Kaabia took a leap further still keeping their edgy dramatic vibe very much in place. Inspired by the Golden Lion, the collection saw the lion’s face use as a motif in most pendants. Art Deco inspirations, spiked neckpieces, fringes were features that set these designers apart that marked the beginning of the show.

Day 3 at LFW: Indian Textiles Day!

Day 3 at LFW: Indian Textiles Day!

Bringing together arts, crafts and textiles altogether in one melting pot was Indian Textiles day on Day 3 at Lakmé Fashion Week. There was a bloom of colors that bought in the feeling of celebration and joy! A great initiative by Lakmé and IMG to promote and create awareness about our craft and culture began with a successful start with Gaurang and Shruti Sancheti opening the day.

One of our most loved shows of the day was ‘Ardhagini’ by Gaurav Shah who showcased an eclectic mix of saris, anarkalis and ghagras that will appeal to the modern bride. Red, yellow, orange, pink with bold touches of green were seen which are all considered auspicious during weddings. Blending together Kanjeevarams, Kalamkari prints and zardozi, the designer’s attempt in showing the intricate weaving known as Korvai for South Indian Saris was highly praised! Animal motifs in warm colours were the print of choice for his collection that fit in really well with the rest of the line. Kudos to Gaurav who gave Indian Textile Day a great begin!

Day 2 of Lakmé Fashion week was a heady mix of successes and misses. With as many as 18 designers that showcased their collections, it was a busy day for all buyers, fastionistas and bloggers.
Waving the checker flag for the day were Artivijay Gupta, Nikhil Thampi, Sidharta Aryan and Yogesh Chaudhary who all had individual lines to present.
Artivijay Gupta’s ‘I Love ma Doodle Book’ created a fantasy in black and white with Dupon silk, tabby silk and crepe luxuriously used with sketches of faces and figure blocks. Final set of garments bought colour doodles to the ramp featuring colour wheels. This is one designer we hope to see more!

The budding talent didn’t cease to shy away from mixing textures, colors and prints while layering them with jackets. To be very honest we were a tad bit disappointed with Ankit Satam and Mehak Pruthi, Kanika Seth & Ankit Sharma’s collections. With so much going on, there felt a need to edit and delete!
